Thomas > Photographer: Jared Padilla,'09. This still life is composed of two symbols created by the Cub Crewe to the Bayou commemorating their efforts in New Orleans in June 2007. The boots were worn by one of the students for the two weeks he served in NOLA. They were autographed by all the students and adults who served as part of the Rebuild NOLA effort. The wood block is an end reminant of a center beam used in the construction of one of the houses in the NOLA Musicians Village in the Upper Nineth Ward, where many of the Loyola crew worked during the second week of the service immersion. The poem shown on the side of the wood block is a reflection by Peter Furnish, '08. The beads which festoon the shoes are a reminder of the celebratory times and spirit of the people of NOLA, who will in time rebuild their city with the help of volunteers like the Cub Crewe. May we never forget!!! It will take 20 years to rebuild the Crescent City and the lives of the good people who lived there. All Cub alumni, parents and friends are encouraged to go and serve in the Rebuild NOLA effort.
