Thomas > The backside of the Loyola Community Service T-shirt featuring the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.  The Loyola Community Service Program includes both for credit and not for credit activities.  Over the course of four years, each Loyola student will complete at least 150 hours of direct service projects/relationships with persons who are not only needy, but poor, disenfranchised and marginalized.  Service activities start in the freshman year with 15 hours of directed service on the Loyola campus, 25 yours minimum off campus during each of the sophomore and junior years and then the senior service immersion project for a minimum 85 hours conducted during the school day at various off campus sites each January.  A list of prequalified sites may be found on the Loyola High School website under Community Service and Preferred Placements.  Specific program questions may be directed to tzeko@loyolahs.edu

Thomas > Ignatian Solidartiy Network:  Each year the weekend before Thanksgiving, a delegation of Loyola students and teachers joins together with delegations from other schools and universities sponsored by the Jesuits for a teach in and peace march outside the School of the Americas/Western Hemispheric Institute for Security Concerns.  Graduates of this military graduate school have been responsible for killing 100,000 men, women and children in Central and South America. The objective of this protest is to shut this tax payer supported school down.
Thomas > The Loyola Cub delegation to the Ignatian Teach In gahtes before the Sunday peace march outside the gates of Ft. Benning, Columbus, Georgia.  The 2007 delegation to this event numbered 24 students, 6 faculty and 3 members of the Loyola Mothers Guild.
Thomas > The Loyola delegation of students, teachers and parents numbered 30 at the 2007 Ignatian Teach In and protest and peace march focused on the program and gradutates of SOA/WHINSEC.
Thomas > Presente!  Each cross commemorates a man, women or child killed in Latin America by the deathsquads from SOA/WHINSEC.   Here are members of the 2007 delegation at the Sunday march.

Thomas > This image is from the Sunday Peace March attended by 25,000 persons in November 2007, commemorating the 100,000 martyrs in Central and South America who have lost their lives due to the tactics of the military graduates of the School of the Americas (SOA)and Western Hemispheric Institute for Security Concerns (WHINSEC) over the last forty years. The school is located on the Fort Benning Military Base outside the city of Columbus in South West Georgia.
